On the 2-7 June 2018 we had and opportunity to conduct social audits in KZN’s Mpukunyoni District (Somkhele). Community members together with the Social Audits Trainers managed to conduct a 3 day door to door audits. Social Audits is a community-led process that facilitates public participation in the monitoring of mine’s service delivery and expenditure as per Social and Labour Plan(SLP) and compare them to their experiences as recipients. In Mpukunyoni we managed to conduct audits on 7 mining affected villages affected  by Tendele Coal Mine a subsidiary of Permit. Community members where forcefully relocated without compensation. During the process we found out that almost 85% of the homestead is not benefiting the affected villages.
