The ex miners retrenched by Twickenham mine in 2015- 2016 during the downscaling are desperate and cannot sustain themselves and their families.
The mine should have implemented the social and labour plan financial provision in the event of downscaling to ensure that the former mine workers continue to provide for their families. Most of them were breadwinners but currently cannot cope with life and expenses without the income. The mine has re-committed itself in the current circle of the SLP to introduce measures and projects to help with the situation but still not much has been done.
