After building his house next to his  mother’s house, the resident of Ward 13 in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality  went to Eskom offices in Janefurse to make an application. He was given a piece of paper dated 2014/07/16 and a GTX number, Eskom’s local telephone numbers and national contact centre, website address and sms numbers for Vodacom, MTN and CellC.

 

Eskom send people to connect electricity but the resident was then told that his house is far from the pole which requires an extra pole.

 

Sms were send the numbers given but nothing happened. People at Eskom office at Jane Furse said the home owner is far from the electricity pole so the owner was advised to go to the local councillor so that the connection can be sorted. It is now Ocrober 2018 and nothing has been done. Electricity is like water, it is a basic need. Candles are not that bright and lot of fire accidents in the households are caused by candles. The owner cannot use any electrical appliances as there is no electricity.

 

On 17 September, I spoke to ward 13 councillor to get information then he said it is still under process because there are 15 people in ward 13 waiting for electricity.

 

The owner will have to use traditional iron, candles and wood and is not good as they are time consuming and risky.

 

On the 24th October, he went to Eskom offices again and they gave him a new paper with new reference number dated the 24 as if is still a new application. He is still confused.
