The Matjoba group for young woman was recently established in Lephalale

Young woman of the Matjoba group have decided to take their fate into their own hands and change their own lives, rather than waiting for someone else. Members of the group are from Marapong Township, Steenbokpan, Seleka village and Shongoane village. They are motivated to a make difference in their own lives and that of their communities.

A strong feeling for environmental justice brought them together. Important issues were discussed such as the Groothoek Coal Mine project which threatens to start a coal mine in the Onverwacht town. A new project Lephalale coal and power is also planned for Beska area. Both these projects threaten the health and safety of our communities. By Andries Mocheko
