Nkuna West a highly polluted town in Kitwe Zambia
Nkana West is one of the highly polluted towns on the Copperbelt in Kitwe, Zambia. This is because Nkana is located next to a smelter. Most sporting clubs in the area where closed due to the amount of sulphur dioxide that was being released. As of today three streets from the smelter area suffer vegetation degradation..plants can hardly grow and currently the smelter has been closed as the acid began melting the building walls. Most miners who worked at the smelter in the 80s and 90s suffered from tuberculosis (research needs to be conducted to verify facts)
