SAND Mining in Ditwebeleng Village

Community alerts/Mmathapelo Thobejane/Ditwebeleng Village/16/01/2019, 5:21 PM] Is that time of the year were people make a living out of sand, unemployment is one of the challenges we are facing in this area and during this season sand mining is increasing at Moopetsi River. People are making business out of this the problem is that the river is now in bad condition caused by this because they over mine the sand and that left the river without sand and this lead to the river to expand and open up easily. It is not safe at all because the water dried-up quickly and the pools where cows used to drink water are being destroyed too. People who lives next to the river are affected too because when the river become bigger, they end up finding there yard inside water especially during this rainy season. This is very dangerous and I think the department of environmental affairs must monitor this Sand mining because it’s destroying our environment.
