Property worth over R50 000 was lost in the fire.
A 44-year-old Thokoane woman has been homeless for 8 years after her RDP house was razed in a fire on .
Mahlatse Thobejane of Thokoane in Fetakgomo-tubatse Local Municipality said she was away at a front opposite neighbour’s house when her back opposite neighbour called to tell her that her house was on fire.

“We still don’t know what caused the fire. We were not home, and every electric appliance was switched off,” Mahlatse said.

She told me that she has been struggled to build herself and her family a house after the incident. With help from family members she has managed to build a four room house.
“I lost property worth over R50 000,” she said.
Mahlatse said she lost a TV, fridge, sofas, beds and other valuables including food and money.
Mahlatse said she has laid a claim with Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality but still today she has been assisted. Councillors, Mayors and Municipal Managers have come and gone without helping her.
