Nomzamo Agri village is situated near Wesselton around Ermelo.
It is a new informal settlement that had no access to water as a basic need, but now people are happy that they are now able to have water running nearby street taps. The water is from the nearby Sewer Plant Pipe’s to their Street Tap’s and is purified.
They saw that there’s no need to wait for the Local Municipality to install water taps for them. So they took a courage to collect funds amongst themselves or each household (R50) as a Community, to buy Pipes and Taps to connect for themselves in their yards. So they did so and the process was very successful.
Now everyone is happy going forward and the key lesson was ask not what your country can do for you but rather what can community can do not to mean that our government is left without responsibility.
