Empumelelweni is a new formal settlement that having a go slowly in service delivery.
Now we are facing a very serious problem of waste and dumps everywhere in our streets it was not much like this before the lockdown and the smell that is coming from the dumps is unbearable. The big problem is that we are in a very bad space concerning our health.

People around were paying a bakkie that will come every month to collect their waste in their houses, but now they say it is hard for them even to pay that amount of cash every month as some are no longer working their usual hours at their work some has lost their jobs, so more people ask the boys moving around to help them take their waste but when they get that R10 rand they just start to dump everywhere.

This is the a very serious problem and we did ask the mayor to arrange waste bins for us and we have to know when they come to collect but her response was people don’t use the bins responsible they don’t throw the waste inside the bin and that cause lot of work.
We don’t know when they are going to provide us with a waste collecting truck from the municipality.
