More than 20 cows feared dead after drinking contaminated water

There are fears that the death of cattle in Chiadzwa has been as a result of drinking contaminated water in the mine. It is allegedly said the water was contaminated ZCDC in their efforts to prevent artisanal miners from mining in the water, community monitors had learnt with concern. The monitors had engaged a local veterinary officer who confirm only five cows and dismissed the rest as manufactured information. He said they are waiting for the results of water samples collected that has been sent to the lab. The community however said independent test were supposed to be conducted. Last months when CDDT inquired with the veterinary officer over a similar issue he said there is shortage of pastures and grazing land. He advised us communities to purchase supplementary feeds.
