Students and parent’s frustration still continues in 2021

The school have opened and as a result of the pandemic, the schools children attend classes in different days(2/3 days) . Some

children attend one week and the next one stay at home so that it will be easy for them to maintain social distancing. Our schools in the rural areas have no enough classrooms for all the learners. No one knows how long will the virus take and does this mean that things will continue like this?

Government did employ teachers assistants but that does not solve the problems at schools and as per their contract they’ll be working for 6 months only. Another problem is food, for days that children are at home some do not get proper meals. For this month parents had to buy school requirements eg books, covers, uniform etc meaning money is tight for those who get R450 grant and those who earn less. For families that have no income is a problem because there are no food parcels to help them. If this pandemic continues what will happen to

the learners?
