Copper cable is known to be making money for izinyokas in Rustenburg. Some even go to an extent of going underground illegally to steal copper cables.

With the pandemic prolonging more than we expected, people are now opting to stealing copper cables. Majority of the people have lost their jobs during the first wave of the covid pandemic.

On Thursday, the transformer exploded and the municipality workers came and change it. While they were busy fixing the transformer, other people tried to steal the cable of the new installed transformer than is less than a month old.
