Sewer flows in our yards

“As a Community resident of Extension Two around Ermelo, we mostly experience dirty Water that flows through our street and that brings a bad smell which will cause Air Pollution” Said Miss Jabulile Ngwenya.
“Time and again our children play with it and most of the Streets are surrounded by the dirty water (Sewer) which contain Plastics, Papers, used and unused Condoms, old clothes or shoes, Pads, stainless steel objects and Disposable Nappies ” she added.

Some of the farmers around the area are using the small Dam for their animals to drink, here comes the sewer to pollute the water and other Community members used to use that water to do Laundry, House chaos, Wash Cars, Watering their plants but since South Africa is experiencing water crisis, clean water is not a fresh or accessible resource.
It will be easy when our Local Municipality partner with other Departments must intervene to assist the Community with this problems because it will lead to illnesses like Cholera to Young and Old, people leaving with Disabilities and also will lead to ground water to get polluted. This Sewer is carrying bacteria’s. More of the areas are surrounded by Sewer flowing down to blocked drainage system and it affects the animals and plants. Sadly the plants will be eaten by Human who may then become ill or develop unknown symptoms. The Animals and plants may die or not reproduce properly. This Sewer problem is a big problem to our livelihood, WE CANT CONTROL THIS BAD SMELL!!!
