Soweto high way shut down

On the 20-06-2022 in the early hours of monday soweto high way was closed because of the electricity crisis faced by soweto resident and the reason being since the roll out of prepaid metres that makes residents to use alot of money for electricity by purchasing electricity units on daily basis.

Soweto high way closure or shut down on the 20th of june was not the first time and other areas like pimville, protea and other parts of soweto that had closed main roads as a protest due to loadshedding and prepaid metres that were activated from the minisub stations.

Residents of soweto decided to embark on a march to the mayor’s office to hand over a memorandum with grieviances on the 21-06-2022 of which this was a legal march.
