These is congestion at our clinics, especially the one opposite Mojaho Primary School which is called Thabong clinic.

People arrive as early as 06h00 in the morning and wait outside until the gate opens at 07h00. In some instances they have to wait in the rain or bitter cold winters during the months between April and August when the wind is strong and cruel. The other clinic is Hani Park that is not far from the mine tailings of the old Saaiplas and Erfdeel shafts.

When the wind is blowing in the direction of the clinic dust from the mine tailings falls on the people queuing for medical treatment.

The security guard will only open the gate at 07h00 and only a certain number of people will be attended to while others are told to come back the following day.

There are women carrying small babies who come for both antenatal prenatal care respectively, the people who come for treatment are mainly those who suffer from chronic ailments such as diabetes, tuberculosis(silicosis) cancer and mental illness. The nursing staff are rude and arrogant in a manner that is an anti thesis of the Nightingale oath they’ve taken.

Thabong alone has five clinics and other clinics that were catering for the former mine employees have been closed left to dilapidated, if such facilities can be utilized they can be able to ease the burden on health care workers and avoid congestion.
