Difference in our Community

Youth day on the 16th June 2022 was well planned and organized by the city of Matlosana local municipality. The event was well marketed it was all over the streets, churches, stadiums posters on the wall, and Social Media platforms. On the day of the event teachers were wearing school uniforms and churches were using the day also to raise funds.
There were lot of activities and there were competitions organized at one of the events in Tower Mall and young people were participating one can see the happiness and joyfulness of that day.
In churches Priest were worried about poor attendance of young people instead they saw a large number of old people taking action in “youth exhibition” and it was also concerning to the community as participation was poor in churches.
I think the problem starts from “HOME” because parent are responsible for their kids and they should teach them before they get encouragement from outside it must start from home.
And again as young people we need to pull up our socks because there are lots of opportunities which are published almost everyday to benefit youth.
I wish ward councilors with their ward committees can put more effort on youth especially when it comes to learnerships we lack information circulation.
I think government must come with the strategy that we must celebrate youth day every after 2 months in a form of programmes that conscientize young people and empower them because celebrating youth day ones a year event is not enough.
