Petrus Moshe

It is so impressive  that youth themselves took the initiative to fight against poverty and Unemployment confronting them. On 16/06/2022, the youth of St Monica in Extension 19, has invited all stakeholders to come and address them on how can mitigate against current dilemma of high rate unemployment of Youth in Jouberton, amongst speakers invited they included government departments, Small Business Enterprises Agency (SEDA), Department of labour, Non Governmental and potential funders, Lottery, and Civil Society organizations and Faith based, Justice and Peace Commission.

The rationale behind this was to hold companies and government accountable and provide platform for the youth to present their own frustrations and civil society to act as a catalysts, and lobbying for  alternative of job creation mechanisms as this has being part of previous campaigns.

During this engagement points mounted out  and  challenges for youth are problems of drugs, crime , prostitution as means for their own survival and escaping reality, hence they need social intervention, because the system of country doesn’t provide or dignify jobs and employment.

The outcome of this events was that speakers provided youth with information on job opportunities, and how to start their businesses and support, whilst civil society, Justice and Peace encouraged youth to go for green economy projects and climate change and to participate on Basic Income Grant Campaigns initiated by civil society organizations.
