A need for campaigns about abuse
#abuse
Life in other households is very difficult because of abuse, most of the parents leave their children with their grandparents to seek employment to give them a better life. This leads to problems as sometimes the children think that their parents abandoned them. Not all parents can work in the local mines and as a result others go to other provinces or nearby areas, in Mogabane village there is a young man who abuses his parent and cousins, his mother was staying in Gauteng, he grew up under his grandmother’s care. His mother came back home when her mother got sick and came to take care of her, after sometimes she passed away.
The aunt (sister to the young man’s mom) also passed away and as a result her young children who were left with their stepfather had only one option and came back home to their grandmother’s place and stay in the same house with the young man. The young man took advantage of the situation and raped the children and they tried to tell their Aunt but she never listened until the older one moved out to go stay with her boyfriend. As time went on they complained and the young man told them that his grandmother left him the house when she died, he inherited the house, he was verbally abusing his mother and it was terrible that she got a protection order against his son.
His mother moved out of the house and stayed in an RDP house with her sister’s children.
Abuse is a very big problem in our communities and most of the people are scared to speak, this leads to children growing up with anger and end up bullying or abusing others as they grow up.
NGOs, social Development,SAPS, mining companies and those who can assist should do campaigns and the police arrest abusers, children and women should be safe at home and abusers reported. Counseling should be given to victims.
