#ASSIST THE CHILDREN

On the 26th of October I managed to visit Shongoane Care Centre and managed to interview the chairperson of the Care Centre. Her response was that they are now only four(4) in number but in the beginning they were seven (7) in number and the reason being that the other three (3 ) members said they can’t work for free anymore without being paid something to support their families . Before the Care Centre was formally registered they used to doing door to door , volunteering to take care of sick people in the village as homebased carers .

Then one women from the Department of Health advised them to register community Care Centre and they did likewise. After registering they managed to have 139 orphans around Shongoane who benefited . They even collected clothes, toys and school uniform to support the vulnerable and after school kids travelled to the centre to eat and play then at 4 o’clock they departure to their homes .
The Social Development Service assisted them with food then after 3 months  once  the food and electricity depleted no one will support them to continue with the work.

Their Centre will survive the whole month without electricity which lead them to do paper work that also run out of food . Their stuff suffered due to not having the stipend . Lights are stolen including copper cables  .They also struggle with access to water and their Ward Cllr is not assisting on this matter and the issue of water affects the whole community.

Way forward

I advised them to make an appointment to meet with Lephalale new appointed Mayor to resolve their issue and also meet with Lephalale mall manager to assist them with food . Our Mega projects should be contributing to the Centre to minimise hunger and poverty.
