LAND IS NEVER A BIN
We are looking forward to living healthier lifes but we are not respecting our own land that we
are supposed to live on each and every day of our lives. We were promised to live on clean land
that is not contaminated and also does not a contain garbage, said our leaders from the local
municipality of Thaba Chweu. Even now we are still waiting to observe their action of clean
promised land as a community of Lydenburg. Our people are not save because of not having
good places to settle in as they are living with trash in their homes and also living on the trash
on its own.
We wake up everyday with high hopes of getting our clean land back but then we just
experience that most of our corner houses are turned to illigal dumping sites. Now all the
recycle products collectors collect their items in our homes, so do we still call that a healthy
living life? Are we going to survive or maybe get help on this horrible danger? We are at a time
of crisis where animals, plants, and humans are affected. Are we aware that not only the
environment is affected but also this introduces diseases that can kill all the living organisms on
earth. Therefore when we strike for our right of clean land, we are crime suspects. Not yet
involving the factories but enough is enough.
We tried all our best to reach to the local municipality, they acted so fast by placing waste bins
on our corner houses to stop the pollutants and also providing people to collect our home trash
every morning and the evenings but no bins are provided for the community to keep their
rubbish. There is no one considering to acknowledge the surrounding people of the community
to know how to keep the free lands cleaned, all the time. No one from around is given a chance
to use their skills to better their home land , by walking around the free lands to collect some
waste thrown there or to just make sure that there are no unclean places around the community.
They can teach the people how to protect their own land, they can also help them to recycle
their wastes and they can give nearby people who are unemployed a chance to go around the
polluted lands to assist and confirm that the whole environment is covered all the time. They can
conger this by working together with the community as a whole.
