The government takes integrated services to Jagersfonein

Thabo Ishmael Choledi

As an activist, I was one of the community members who attended services from the premier’s office. Still, unfortunately, she didn’t manage to come as she promised that day. She just sent only the department and members from her office to take our complaints. To be honest, we are not happy about how our government has been responding to our matter as the community of Jagersfontein for a long time and until now that is still happening.

The way the premier handled our issues was not right at all, the departments she sent were; the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, the Office of the Premier, the Red Cross, the Health Department Special Investigating Unit (SIU), Department of Labour and legal aid, but nothing was fruitful for us as a community because today we are not being assisted. For many of us who were there submitting our claims, there were no answers for us but we were
told that we would be called but until today none was called for answers, I submitted my CCMA case no fsbf55-71-21 to labor, where the mine manager unfairly dismissed me and he bought the case away from me.

Another case was of my brother Thandanani Sentle Masia, a professional teacher who was extorted money by his principal. We also submitted this case to the (SIU) and we are still waiting to see, many of us who are claiming our money from the mine and were told that the mine is still under investigation to see
where it falls. It doesn’t link with the mine’s bank which is TEBA Bank, but till today we are still waiting to see how the government is going to resolve this matter,
And I hope the BENCHMARKS to intervene in this matter for the benefit of the community and I know that the foundation will do better than what the government is doing.
