93 year old Mary Holmes is in good health besides being slightly deaf. 62 year old Joseph Holmes her son has asthma and is losing his sight. They a family of nine and their only income is the social grant. Their home is not safe for human habitation because the roof is made of asbestos, the air is toxic and the children are always coughing on windy days.
Unemployment and substance abuse has caused much pain in our community our people are living without hope. They are happy when they find piece jobs at fifty or hundred rand a day. I’ve also noticed that pregnant mummies are giving birth at six months leaving the baby in hospital for weeks. By Dawn Anderson
