Today the 23rd July 2020 members from three different community organizations gathered at Mokopane town to commemorate the passing of two of their leaders who were shot a year ago in Mokopane town.
Members of the three structures namely : Mokopane Task Team, Mogalakwena Concerned and Affected communities, and SANCO together with other communities embarked on a program of picketing at a newly built garage in Mokopane Town which is alleged that its tendering process was through a corrupt manner which involves Mogalakwena Municipality mayor and her spiritual leader and that 1 of the assassinated member was killed cause he had an evidence on how the allocation of the tender unfolded and the other member was a councillor in the Mogalakwena Municipality and he was the chairperson of MPAC (Municipal Public Account Committee) and he was about to reveal why was the municipality rated the second in South Africa on wasteful and unauthorised expenditure.
The community members and the families of the two assassinated members went to a spot where they were killed to light candles and also put some flowers.
Community members raised a concern that it has been a year since Ralf Kanyane and Vaaltyn Kekana they were killed and no arrest has been made and the worst part they were killed during the day, during Kekana’s funeral Minister of Police Hon. Bheki Cele promised the communities and families that murders will be arrested but till to date no arrests have been made.
