Jouberton enjoys its annual Boxing Development Tournament.

Jouberton residents and young boxers enjoyed their annual Boxing Development Tournament that is usually held on May every year. The tournament was held on the 22nd of May 2021 at Tower Mall in Jouberton. The boxing tournament accommodates youngsters from the ages of 9 years old upwards, and this year it attracted youth in as far as Rustenburg, Potchefstroom, Fotchville and Khuma, says the tournament organiser Senzo Dumisa.

It was very exciting to see young people exchanging fists and having fun after our society in the past months has experienced gang violence and many social ills presented by covid 19 pandemic.

Senzo added that this event has been made possible by tower mall as their sponsors, and that last year’s event was disturbed by high levels of hard lockdown due to the pandemic and this year they could not miss the opportunity. Kabelo Ndlovu from Khuma United Boxing Club won best male boxer of the tournament and Rethabile Phukuntsi from Jouberton Boxing Club won the best female boxer of the tournament.

The next tournament for this year will be held in Khuma location on the 16th of June 2021 on youth day.
