CABLE THEFT AT RAILWAY AND MUNICIPALITY

 

At the breaking point of losing millions as a result cable theft are Masilonyana Local Municipality and Prasa particularly in Theunissen. Cable theft has rocked both Theunissen railway station and the municipality in recent times

 

In the fifteen or months our railway line has been closed and metrorail has not moved an inch as thieves have been dismantling the railway and train delays are becoming a daily bread for most in the rail system. Upon inspections railway securities have noticed that from Brandfort to Theunissen there is no network of cable and as a result Prasa has to use diesel engines to ferry these trains from Brandfort to Virginia where electricity is at.

 

Masilonyana Local Municipality has also endured the brand of these cable thieves in recent times. The community of Theunissen have themselves without water for weeks on end as Izinyoka nyoka are ruining every line that has cooper in it.

 

The municipality has inlisted the help of a private company to ensure that its electrical lines are protected. We hope that this time security will curf these thieves and water shortage will be a thing of the past.
