Survivor of gender based violence

Survivor of gender violence speaks out
I’m Christinah Mogobye a woman and an activist from Sefikile village. I was in an abusive relationship when I was a young woman and suffered emotionally, physically, and silently. That was until I found the courage to find help to stop and leave the abusive relationship and then I became a Gender-based violence survivor. I then realised my situation was not isolated and I developed a need to bring change in my community and fight GBV and became an activist for change. Many people are crying and dying slowly and secretly, the victims suffer in silence and ultimately succumb to depression and some become statistics and I want to change that as an activist.
As a survivor of gender-based violence, I realized that many lives are in danger and need to be saved. Many people are crying and dying slowly and secretly and victims suffer in silence. It took me one minute to decide to do this. It is something that in our country and it needs to be challenged until we see outstanding justice being served for the sake of all the victims and their families.
This organization (Bua Mining Communities) also played a very important role in my life and my career. hance I’m still still pressing on. We had a challenge during COVID and things were tough but I’m glad it didn’t stop us from pressing on. I failed myself and many people when I was a victim and I vowed that I would never let any woman suffer, not under my watch. I will bring about change and act accordingly to reduce the rate of GBV in our village, District, and even country at large. I am an activist because I want to transform my community and bring development.
