Sewer problems get worse in Snake Park

In our community, due to spillage of sewage in our yards, I came across the family of Mhlobowami at 1230 Block 2 who is a pensioner staying with her daughter. Ncinci is an 85-year-old staying with her daughter by the name of  Nzonzo, taking care of her mother because she is bedridden due to arthritis. Ncinci was doing everything for herself before she fell sick. Now their yard is always smelling bad because of a small sewer spilling into their yard every month. 

The sewer affects their health because it’s spilling inside their yard and outside the yard as they are staying next to the main road where the is a main hole sewer that is taking all dirty things. Every month the main sewer spills and flows to the street also in the yard no house 1230 as is next to the main hole, then they end up struggling to go to the bus stop as the water will be at their gate and inside the yard. 

It is been over three years since this problem has been affecting this family. This is very bad and it is affecting their health and dignity. Children cannot play outside the yard because they will get sick or even drown in the dirty sewer. The old pensioner can’t even sit outside to get fresh air because of the sewer around her yard.

Her daughter says they have a problem of diarrhea and it is caused by the dirty sewer in their yard. One time she was so sick and could not even go to work because of her running stomach. This has made them the laughing stock in their street, people give their home faul names because it smells and it has a lot of flies.

My concern is the health of the family especially Ncinci as she is bedridden. The caregivers always come and check on her and deliver her treatment also professional nurses come to her home and do their job with all checkups.

If the department can consider this matter it will reduce different types of diseases.
