Goats lost at the mine

#SINKHOLES

A small boy aged 14 years old was found trying to enter mine premises because the goats he was herding was last seen entering in the mine.

This happened in Kromdraai opencast mine next to Empumelelweni and Kromdraai graveyard in Mpumalanga Province under Emalahleni Local Municipality.

It happened on Wednesday the 07th of September while I was walking around the mine road the I saw a small boy alone next to the mine premises, I stopped and asked why he was there instead of being at school he answered” My goats are lost but someone told me the entered here in this place ” I then explained to him that getting in there he might be lost like the goats because there’s too many sinkholes and he is alone no one will know his whereabouts.

The nearby community and their livestock because it might happen that the goats have sinked in the sinkhole. My reason for touring that site was because I was told that a scavator sinked in the sinkhole some weeks back and the white driver burn to death.

The place has so many burning sinkholes and unburning sinkholes so its not easy to identify the danger.
As the rightful owners of the mine is Kromdraai mine has decided to leave without rehabilitation the small scale business people’s saw an opportunity and grab it with both hands and mine saying they are rehabilitating by finishing the coal that is left.

Our government department especially the department of minerals resources and energy have to take drastic measures in ensuring that Kromdraai mine is left alone and only expects and qualified people’s go and fix the mess created by Kromdraai mine.
