MENGE AGNES CHOLEDI
Jagersfontein, alcohol, drugs and teenage pregnancy
As a community member and a woman who has raised children, it is very disturbing to see
how people are behaving due to suffering and poverty. Our youth has turned to alcoholism and drug abuse, they dont have trust and hope again. This is because there is nothing wrong that they see that is harmful to their lives.
We are concerned about the community abattoir that has been sold and changed into a tavern,
and the worst part of it is that the same ANC leaders that are doing this whole things. What is
disappointing to me is that we have a high number of liquor places selling alcohol concurrently with drugs.
We also have a challenge of rape and teenage pregnancy that is ruining our lives of our children. These rapes are committed by these unknown people who are being used to destroy the real Jagersfontein. As a married woman and a mother, I had a huge challenge of my daughter who was raped several times and police didn’t assist me until today. Now my daughter has a child whose father is not known. These are serious challenge for young children because they are very
desperate for money and food.
We also had a young child who was admitted to hospital because she slept with one of the
construction workers, who had injured her sexual organs. Now this guy has started to run away.
Even the owner of the construction company has also run away with the workers money. They
only came to destroy not to build, hence we only have hope in the Bench Marks foundation
that with their assistance we will overcome these challenges
