Tunatazama - Community Monitors

Ntlafatso ya Batho Ba Batsho

MENGE AGNES CHOLEDI

It is sweet dreams to us as members of the cooperative after we connected with the assistance
of the Bench-MarksFoundation, for helping us register our cooperative which we are looking
forward to starting by the start of the summer season. Our purpose is to come and plant enough
food for the community so that we can develop a sustainable community that can stand for itself
through hard times and that must know how to conquer poverty and unemployment.
Through our vision, we have noticed a lot of space where we can resume our work. We have
written and sent our mayor a land application letter, and also we let him know about us as a
cooperative. The date of the letter was 24th May 2024 and we are still waiting to see if he will
respond to us on time. Our 14 working days were on 13th June 2024, but we still haven’t
received any response from the mayor.
And now what concerns us is that due to lack of land, people have started to move to
Fauresmith because that side people dont struggle to get land. People also need to purchase
the stands for them to access a place of stay, now because Jagersfontein is a standstill town.
People are evacuating one by one to another town because they claim that the Fauresmith
counselor is active and is working for the people, that is why I say sooner or later there will be
no one at Jagersfontein because of service delivery that is poor and misused.
Now we pray and urge God to enter into the mayor's heart and give him an understanding
of what we are capable of, for the future and development of our town so that we all can work
together. We all need to take part in the formulation of a new development plan and
empowering our society, for the future of our children, because together we can do more.
