Agriculture Leads a boy to understand the food system in his village
We see a young man under the age of 25 planting a vegetable garden in his home. He lives in
Magobading village. He also raises pigs. We see people coming to buy his vegetables and
tomatoes. The young man explains that he loves agriculture with all his heart. He even saves
his pocket money that he eats at school and saves to buy seeds, or vegetable plants[seedling].
They say that since primary school he liked to farm and his teacher asked his mother why the child at school didn’t hear anything.
His mother says she felt it was important to make space for him at home because she sees that
the child likes to play. Now we are talking about this child who is doing grade 10 and he says he
sees the importance of going to school because he is failing. He thinks it is better to farm and
live. He says that if he passes grade 10 he will study agriculture where he will know what he
likes.
Interview I parent
As a parent, I feel very disappointed because I think you will do a better job than farming. Now I
see that he loves it that’s why I made him a garden to farm. I see that at school he drinks
because he was a child. But you see that he likes to farm with livestock.
Interview 2
I would like to thank the community for the support they have given me since I started growing
vegetables and writing a pot to show that I sell vegetables. I think if I had a big place I could
help and give people jobs. His reputation is that he is the owner of an agricultural and livestock
farm.
