Unity and cultural diversity

Petrus Moshe

The Catholic Diocese of Klerksdorp, Caritas and Justice and Peace hosted a cultural event
for Immigrants and Refugees on 09/November/2024, at Alabama community hall. The
objective of this event was to acknowledge and embrace each others cultural diversity and
appreciate our historical rich heritage of Mother Africa, and to reflect together, sharing that
links with socio- economic and political situation from those different countries and finally
hear messages of solidarity coupled with Songs, dancing, and poems performance by
different nationalities.

Amongst guests were Bishop Victor Phalana, Mrs. Shesh who was the program director. The
purpose of the Event was rendered by Petrus Moshe, followed by testimonies from different
foreign nationals.

The Immigrants and Refugees, that pulling factor that the here is nothing else but is political
violence that cause many people to leave their countries and immigrated here is to seek
political asylum, and for economic independence. On the contrary, they are treated badly
both by government departments through bribes as majority of foreign nationals are not
having legal documents. One speaker cited, that some of their houses are being looted and
their wives are being sexual harassed and being raped, as result they are afraid to complain
and present their cases to the police, simply because their secondary predators are the
police and trapped into the perennial circle of being victimized, harassed subjected to bribery
and other forms of human exploitation.

It is important that we should treat our fellow brothers and sisters from Africa with dignity
because we are all human beings.

In conclusion Julius Nyerere, when man goes far field, we will remain within the Nation,
such philosophical concept, promotes, Cultural Diversity, it is Anti Xenophobic and Pan
Africanist.
