Heavy Rainfall Threatens Local Infrastructure and Vegetation

In Mokopane most of the roads are damaged. We have more dangerous potholes caused by heavy storms we have experienced this year due to climate change. Water pipes are damaged and exposed from under the soil and cause spillage of clean water, yet community members are running short of clean water. Mogalakwena municipality is also failing to provide clean water to the community.
The water tanks for water harvesting that are installed alongside the streets in different villages are damaged. Water taps were vandalized due to lack of maintenance, some have water leakage.
For us who depend on rain, this year is a disaster for us. Our crops are dying due to heavy floods that caused too much soil erosion. We experienced a lot of green locusts that eat crops in the ploughing field. During harvesting we came up with nothing. Even those who were planting vegetables at home had no good harvest because of heavy storms caused by climate change.
