why i am an activist

I am an activist because I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or perspective. I’ve experienced firsthand the impact of unfair treatment and biases and I’ve seen how it can affect individuals and communities.
I first noticed unfair treatment when my ideas were ignored in meetings, but a colleague similar ideas were praised. It was frustrating to see my contribution dismissed, while others received recognition for similar suggestions. This made me wonder if my perspective was being overlooked due to biases or preconceptions. I envisioned a team culture where everyone’s ideas are heard and valued based on merit, not personal biases. I hoped for active listening, fair feedback, and recognition based on quality contributions. This would foster a more collaborative, innovative and motivated team environment.
I started speaking up in meetings and sharing my ideas and perspectives, I also encouraged others to do the same, creating a more inclusive discussion. I draw strength for my activism from:
● Seeing the positive impact on my colleagues and team
● Believing in fairness and equality
● Knowing that my voice matters
● Being part of a supportive community
● I want to create a better work environment for everyone.
These motivations drive me to continue advocating for change and promoting a more inclusive and
equitable workplace.
