The Sewage Pipelines Spillage All Over The Streets Of Snake Park.

The city of Joburg urgently needs maintenance, as the community of Snake Park  is experiencing significant service delivery issues, yet we still feel the need to vote.

“It takes a village to raise a child.” Our mothers and grandmothers are actively seeking jobs in the local vegetation field to help sustain our daily lives, especially since we lack access to clean water. The drainage systems are not functioning properly, and job opportunities in the area are scarce.

We have to navigate around bridges and blocked drains filled with sewage, unsure if we are inhaling harmful pollution or foul odors that could lead to diseases like tuberculosis and asthma, particularly since we are surrounded by the Yellow Mountain.

Unemployed members of our community are trying to become local plumbers to address the frequent toilet and drain blockages. Although we are surrounded by small rivers, we remain unaware of how they affect us because our water pipelines are broken and contaminated.

The area is poorly maintained, and there is an inadequate bridge leading to Snake Park. It is even worse that a children’s park is located next to a sewage area, negatively impacting the children when they play there. As residents, we also pass by this area on our way to the local shopping center, so we are all affected and need our voices to be heard.

Our community in Snake Park is suffering from various illnesses due to these ongoing issues. For our safety, we visit local clinics to monitor our health, given the unmaintained drains and broken pipelines in our environment. We kindly request improved service delivery and more frequent plumbing inspections in our area, as we demand these changes for our well-being.
