Covid19 Lockdown Diary – Sekhukhune
30th March 2020 Jane Furse Sekhukhune Limpopo , South AfricaMmabore Mogashoa
Today the 3rd day of Lockdown, 30 March 2020 at Sekhukhune South Africa. Some of the people went to Jane Furse plaza in Sekhikhune Limpopo and other nearest places to collect their Sassa money. The problem is Jane Furse plaza becomes overcrowded and I don think all the people will be able to get their grants. My little sister also went to the nearby garage in the morning to withdraw money but she came back because it was packed. The queues at Jane Furse plaza are heartbreaking as people don’t maintain the requested distance. People have gloves of masks and some know nothing about sanitizers. There is no time to wash hands . Our villagers live in poverty that is why lot of people are out today to collect the grant. We might have the problem of an increase CONVID-19 infections. Being in a queue like that one won’t even have time to eat or go to the rest room. It is a disaster and we hope that there can be better ways.
30th March 2020 Gamogashoa Makhuduthamaga Sekhukhune Limpopo South Africa
At Gamogashoa Makhuduthamaga Local Monicipality. there still water challenge as some people still go collect water away from their homes. One can see few wearing masks. Some of the children still play in the streets and older people still go up and down and you can see that they are just walking for no reason.30th March 2020Steelpoort Ga-MampuruIn steelpoort, I can say its life as usual, The tarvens are open but you buy at back door with high price but people are buying, ok, spaza are open which is a good thing because some people rely on spaza for food and other necessities, when it comes to transport it a nightmare with this of 7 passenger and taxis stopped operating. The fair challenge that we are having is that if one can be found with that virus it going to be a problem because its life as usual, later in the evening you will find group of people, youth sitting at the corner drinking and enjoying, you can swear and say it festive season, that’s the most feared challenge that we are having30th March Sekhukhune District under Fetakgomo Local Municipality in Limpopo. Tokelo MahlakoaneOn 30 March 2020 we played a good role around Moroke Village by helping Disability people, old people and Orphanages. We were distributing food to them during this Corona Virus, since well this no up and down. The cloves, masks and sanitary still coming to be distributed. All Thanks to MACUA to help local activists to play this good Role
30th March 2020Marapong , Lephalale Municipality, Limpopo
We have a very big challenge of Water supply especially at informal settlements because they are using water tanks.People force to go a distance to fetch water. The mushrooming problem is from local people to buy food… Spaza Shops are closed and they are forced to buy at Marapong Complex and they are forced to stand on the queue for more than 1 hour before they can be able to buy. Reason of taking so long it’s because they are using the strategy of 1 metere away from the next person and they only take ten people after some several minutes.30th March 2020Mokopane In Morapaneng village we have a challenge with water in been a week now as we have to wash our hand so this is a big scarcity. Spaza shop are open we are able to go buy bread due to transport is operating for those who are able to go to town but it has started today for those who get Grant they are able to go to town. The challenge of granny who selling on the stress is a challenge because some of use depending of that salary if government can provide food parcel to help poors.28th March 2020 Tembisa mooifontein cemetery… Family’s who loses their loved ones and make arrangements to lay them to rest have somehow difficulties to do that because they don’t have enough support from the community and from distant relatives who would like to attend their family’s funerals as not more than 100 people should attend, police were counting cars and allowing only the hers, family to enter the grave site.
