Food Parcels delayed because “leaders” list exclude people who need it in Thulani Snake-Park.

Since the National lock down many people who applied for food parcels did not receive them, due to the alleged looting of food parcels meant for vulnerable communities.

In Thulani Snake-Park some community leaders were registering food parcels, but many residents were not part of the lists which were circulating around the community. Mostly people who live in informal settlements and foreign nationals were left out.

The department of social development has therefore stopped the using of these lists which were submitted by community leaders, and has requested that residents must apply directly to the call centre and via email. Many who have sent their request via email have received only reference number and they are still waiting in agony.

Many shack dwellers are being excluded from community food parcels list and some of them are foreign Nationals. The department of social development must stop excluding them from food parcels.
