Dust control.
Dust after blasting covers the section of Monametsane, which is close to Bokoni platinum
mine.
This happens at the two old shafts of Bokoni platinum mine, named Um1 and Um2 shafts
that both put Monametsane section between them. The section is within two a
meter radius from both shafts and the gravel road to the Braakfontein shaft, which also affects
Monametse up to Monametse Tipeng section. With road dust and concussions happening at
Klipgat section where mine blasting takes place.
The biggest mistake of the mine is blasting concussion which will affect residents of
Monametsane with house cracks, though mine measured the current cracks. The residents
still say, " they want to be relocated”. Mine strategic movements are unfair to communities
affected by mines.
The fact is due to Environmental legislation, housing itself is an environmental risk.
The community faces the challenge of drinking water because of the mine operation,
particularly UM2 during its operation era.
The worst part of the story, they developed their tailing dams which also affected various
communities around Atok under the operation of the Bokoni platinum mine which started early two
years ago.
The blast of mine haulage opened last year by early December it’s almost six months.
They opened the tunnel towards another shaft called the middle punt.
Due to their plan as they speak, they want to prevent or control dust from trucks that are
carrying platinum from their operation. That is eliminating job opportunities for small-scale
businesses, and destroying small businesses.
Environmental Management Acts also advocate respect for our management plan on
mining, and is affecting the issue of water use licenses.

The residents want mine to do justice to communities affected by mines.
More information sharing is needed for communities affected, and the following needs to under
respected.
