Our children are suffering

My name is Silvia Methule (not her real name) a mother of two beautiful girl kids who are both suffering from asthma and sinuses.

I am staying at Vosman in Mpumalanga Province under Emalahleni Local Municipality in the Highveld region that was declared High Priority Area on the 23rd of November 2007 by the then National Air Quality.

In the sixth month after the birth of my first born I noticed that my baby girl has the breathing problem I then took her to the Doctor who declared her asthmatic and the same thing happened in my second born during the third month , she is also declared asthmatic. They both also suffering from sinuses.

We as the parents are the most affected as we are both unemployed, we rely on the grant that I get from the government. The clinic is operating from 07h00 till 16h00 so it becomes difficult as most of the time asthma attacks at night.

They usually get short of breath that’s when we realized that they are having a problem. We then went to the private Doctor who told us to relocate so that our children will be healed but as we are unemployed and still staying with my family is hard for us to relocate.
The only solution given to me and my children is to relocate or for me to find a good Samaritan who can help us to relocate .

If only the government and the mines especially those that are in our door steps at Vosman can be closed and the clinic be in operation for 24 hours being in the presence of respiratory illnesses medication like the gas that helps during the shortage of breath we can appreciate that.
