POTHOLES, TRUCKS AND MINING
#POTHOLESINOURROADS
Emalahleni known as the city of coal, where Coal is mined through Underground mining and Opencast mining situated near communities.
Illegal mining happening around the area which causes the AIR Pollution
The community is facing a problem because the coal is transported by trucks which uses the roads that commuters use daily.
Those trucks are a danger to the road users because the roads are narrow and only made for small vehicles not big truck carting loads tons of coal.
The trucks have a major contribution to potholes because the roads are not strong and they’re not maintained as well when they do patching/maintenance they don’t use material that is strong which aches the potholes to be more and can cause accidents.
On the other hand, since some of the mines are located around communities some of the road the trucks use is gravel road when they pass they leave dust which causes respiratory diseases to the people not just the dust from the trucks but the major contributing factor to the respiratory diseases is the mining happening around the area.
As the trucks are a contributing factor to potholes and pollution the owners should take responsibility of maintaining the roads but that is not happening as Pollution is happening in the area which is Empumelelweni.
The trucks have to be stopped from coming to the community dwellings to prevent further deformation of roads.
