We as Snakepark Celebral Palsy Forum mothers hosted an awareness on the 31 August 2024 and we invited the community come and join us. The formation of this group was due to the advice from Mum Tiny Dlamini who worked closely with the Bench Mark Foundation.

We celebrated by taking a walk with our children around the streets of Snakepark on the 31 August 2024 because as it was also the South African national C.P awareness day. The day was a bit cold and windy , as such we were skeptical to embark on this ealk as our children living with disabilities easily get sick, fortunely the sun came to the rescsue of the planned walk as it became warmer and we went for the walk as scheduled. And for parents who had the fear that their children s might get sick they were asked to stay behind and not join in on the walk. Geraldine says that as a member of the of the forum stated that “The awareness event was a success even though we had few challenges”.

Lebogang Phocha who is a deputy secretary said that “we invited parents and their children living with disabilities at the event so they also know that they are not alone. And to have the children spend time iwth each other”. The main reason is to mainly to make the community aware of existance of the Snakepark Cerebral Pasly Forum, so they are aware that the is an organization that seek to advocate for the wellbeing of children living with CP and other disabilities.

We had a number of organizations and businesses showing up to support by donating and offering their services to endure that the day was a success. All stakeholders who contributed were present on the day to also share what they do as organizations, business etc. The event then became a networking session for all those who were present on the day. The spaesker gave their message of support and that unity amoung the parents and caregivers of the forum is great example.
