TWO YEARS AFTER JAGERSFONTEIN MEDIA CONFERENCE.

 

On 13th May 2024, we hosted a media conference in Jagersfontein, we wanted to hear how far is the ongoing process of rebuilding the town of Jagersfontein. What we saw was disturbing, we went to the construction site, we met with a guy called De Klerk who is the CLO at the construction site. The CLO appeared to be someone who did not understand his job description; he acts as a site foreman as well. He denied us from taking photos of the site, despite telling him that the mayor gave us permission to conduct an interview.

 

What we saw on site was horrible, because since this company came here the workers have

never been paid until today. On the 15th May 2024, the workers were given half of their wages

and were told that the other money would be paid. Since December last year, there were still

people who didn’t receive their money till today. When payment time is nearby, the people

responsible for payments disappear like nothing. Even their cellphones are constantly on voicemail.

 

This shows us that this company cannot be trusted, even in building houses. They

don’t have the required competence, but because its Jagersfontein such things will happen because it’s a town of hole diggers. We will still want to know how the development of our mine goes back to white people because they were already developed from Queen Elizabeth.
