on 12 August 2024 Maruping and Mogabane marketers went to the Bokoni Platinum mine to
lodge their grievances. They complain that there are people who call themselves Engagement
Forum when they are trusted. Those people can go to the mines and ask for jobs saying they
belong to the community of Mogabane and Maruping but they do not reach the community. The
marketers have come out in two pieces where there are disputes because when another group
goes to the mining to apply for jobs they are told that they have given the three people but it has
not reached the community.
The Mine requested a meeting with the people of the trust and the o community knows what is
waiting for them in Bokoni many leader’s jobs don’t reach the markets, some even when they do
people who have picked up jobs don’t go to work.
They arrived in Bokoni in the boardroom and allowed 3 people from each group to enter, while
the marketers were outside waiting for the results. They finished and when they had to give the
market a report 6, 3 of the trust refused to talk to the market saying they were called to a
meeting by the mine and not the market. The marketers became furious and tried to stop the
trust vehicles from passing, and the police approached to find out what was happening. One of
the marketers pointed out that the trust people are asking for jobs and when they get them they
don’t bring them to the public and take advantage of them, the police pointed out that they
should let them go home because if they fight them they will be arrested and if they strike the
mine cameras will take pictures and they will never work the Bokoni mine.
The marketers went back and trusted and passed. A representative of the marketers gave a
a report indicating that in the boardroom they were given the option would rent the mine
through the database to avoid conflicts in the community. The marketers tried to refuse the
decision taken by the mine, and the miners ordered them to find a place and date they would
take themselves to elect the marketer’s leaders who would be able to represent them in Bokoni.
