Celebrating Penny Guy Fawkes day invited by the councilor’s office with different organisations in our community
Tshidi Sebogodi
GuyFawkes is a day celebrated on the 5th of November every year. He’s the man who was
fighting for freedom. Guy Fawkes left his musk as a remembrance of his day by making it fun
by wearing musks, high heels, big bams, boobs, face painting, and also by changing
genders males wears makeup and dresses then females wear suits with dobs and
mustaches.
On the 16th of November, we as Snakepark Cerebral Palsy Forum were also invited to come
and celebrate with others at the Doornkop community hall. We got invited as executives to
bring only 10 children with disability so that they can socialize with other children. The event
started at 10h30 with playing soccer, table tennis, etc outside at the tennis court. Those who
remained inside the hall were a crew who was busy doing face-painting others were
dancing, singing playing wholerwhoops. The program started at 12h30 controlled by a
program director named Sibusiso.
Sibusiso was controlling the event by calling groups by groups telling all participants to share
their information about their organizations. The were dramas, dancing, singing, poets, and
storytellers. As the CP group we were given a chance to share information about our
organization and we did the introduction and our missions as the forum. As an organization,
we did tell all participants in the hall that children’s live with disabilities are still able, and
need love and care as the logo on our banner says it all. We told all community members to
unlock their kids so that they can socialize with other children as we have a support group to
come and join us as an organization.
As monitors, we were busy surveying door to door and we did come across families living
with children with disabilities. I took their details so that they could be our members and get
out of the stress. I ask msMagagula about the situation of the grandchild a boy named of
Sizwe who’s 7 years old is so sad to hear her story saying the mother doesn’t want to take
care of the child because of her disability.
I also asked Samu as an OVC teacher at Humana to Humana Center say they are cooking
for 100 kids feeding them and helping with school work.
As an organization, we were so happy to be engaged with other organizations in our
community and they distribute parties to all children.
I spoke to Mr Chyna who is a ward committee in ComDev2 as he was the organizer of the
GuyFawkes event explaining his job roles as an Artcrew culture organization. He’s teaching
drama, and acting under a group called DAC. He said going forward they will always invite
us to any event as long is for the benefit of community members. Our CP group and children
were so happy to be with other organizations.
