Unemployment and starvation

Bongani Dladla

We community of Snake Park we don’t have anywhere to go and cry as a community due to
unemployment and starvation.
Farmers have started to panic because their livestock are dying cause by the tailing that is
next to their farm and also their crops are dying cause by the toxic soil vegetables are not
growing nothing to produce anything or eat.
We feel that this mine is violating our human rights and our human dignity is destroyed by
this company PAN African because they don’t engage with us as the community of Snake
Park.
They have started to do re-mining without engaging with us as a community and they are
causing a lot of dust that’s killing our plants and animals because it’s a toxic dust that is
affecting every day.

The community never benefited anything from the mine owners we only benefit from this
toxic dust that’s killing our plants and animals and affecting us as the community of Snake
Park
If the owners of the mine can engage with us as a community we can tell them about our
needs and wants. what do we want from them or they can demolish this tailing?
Mr. Dlami says he just stopped farming because his livestock are dying every day
sometimes his cows give birth to cows that don’t see and that’s a loss for him because no
one can buy a cow that doesn’t see. Starvation is taking place in his family he can’t put food
on the table and he said it’s very bad to see young people not knowing what to do and where
to go due to unemployment and starvation.
The owners of the mine dam tailing must come and engage with the community and bring
jobs to our community that can truly help our youth.
