The challenges of my community of Ga Pila

In my village of Ga Pila in Sterkwater, we are faced with many challenges that are caused by the headman and the Community Development Trust. Our headman does as he pleases regarding the needs of the community, we used to stay at Ga Pila village but we were moved to Sterkwater by Anglo mine. The mine made a litany of promises when they wanted us to agree to be moved.

Unfortunately they could not fulfill even one of their promises, they in turn promised us a barren land. They gave us a honey sucker truck, they said it was going to work for the community but that has not happened. Anglo Mine brings a lot of Pet projects that the headman and the trust members award to their families and friends.

The local children are not working, yet they are biased towards their children, so we embarked on a strike action. We handed the memorandum to both the royal family and the Community Development Trust. Their response was belittling to the community of Gapila (Sterkwater), they spend the community fund without accounting for the R 26, 000 000 that belongs to them. They don’t disclose how and what the funds are spent for.
