Illegal dumping around Matjhabeng as a whole affects environmental health

Matjhabeng community is like a rotten community because of illegal dumping in every open space around the area. The illegal dumping causes land, water and air pollution and blocks our mainholes. That also causes sewerage problems, that is why you see our 6 main towns are so rotten like ghost land.

Everything in our environment is rotten, the soil is dead and we can’t plant on it. Sewerage is blocked and the community suffers bad smells from illegal dumping, plus sewerage is blocked everywhere. We as the community of Matjhabeng asked the municipality to collect waste as they promised on the days they confirmed as waste collecting days, but they failed to deliver on their promises.

We as a community also held cleaning campaigns but still the Matjhabeng municipality can’t be clean, because our government doesn’t want to take the responsibility of looking out for the environmental health or provide the community with the tools needed to keep our community clean. We have a lady between the age of 23_26years old and her son the age of 7-8 years old, their house is near the dumping site they were diagnosed  with tuberculosis.
