COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS PICKET OUTSIDE MEDUPI POWER STATION

Today 25/05/2018, Environmental groups including Matsoba Organisation from Seleka, Greenpeace, Earth Life Africa & Waterberg Women Advocacy Organisation (WWAO) & Waterberg Environmental Justice Forum(WEJF)are picketing at Mandela Drive Intersection to Medupi.

As today is Africa Day the groups are advocating for a healthy environment through keeping coal in the soil for future generations to live in an area they can do farming and other things. They call this picketing a ‘break free from fossil fuel’ awareness. In addition they do not want Thaba-Metsi project to run as they say it will further create environmental problems to Lephalale and its residents.

The target is Eskom and Exxaro, who are using coal for their operations/business.
