Blasting at R37 road maintaince project

It’s been a year now this blasting happens almost once a week . The blasting at R37 is for road maintenance. The community of Burgersfort is affected by this blasting and road extension. There are so many accidents that are happening since the start of the project. The road is narrowed, there’s no space for passenger walkway. People, cars and animals are using this road. The road is being used by cars, trucks and other means of transport for good and products including big mining machinery. It is also used for travelling from Bugersfort to. Polokwane and all nearby villages at Bugersfort.

It has become very hazardous to children and elderly people because the traffic. Bugersfort is overcrowded due to people coming from all provinces because of mining.

When this blasting happens cars are stopped for about 45 munites until the dust and blasting is settled. This makes things worse for women is because if you leave children at home to rush to the shops to buy groceries children start to get worried. As a parent you become stressed. This it has been happening for a while and things are the same since the start of the project.

There are big holes that are on the side of the road. I personally think for this road maintaince our municipality should have started atleast 2km but not maintaince for 30km, it’s bad for us and the entire communities of Burgersfort area
