#ENERGYPOVARTY
It is sad that we are living in the place of energy production in Emalahleni.
The sad part is that those who suffers the most are those who are in a low income communities and close to mines.
Most of women carry the burden as they can’t afford to buy electricity units and those who can maybe afford to buy are victims of load shedding.
They have to go to the mines and dig coal in the abandoned mines and where some coal caring trucks tip so that nearby people can take order to cook and keep their houses warm they even take their children with them in order not to rush back home for them.
Even though is not safe they have to take their kids with them as they can’t even afford to pay for someone to look after them. It is a very sad part that you can’t even control the situation.
When being interviewed mam Nomsa about this situation she said ” I am well aware that coal is dangerous and causing respiratory diseases but I have no alternative I can’t sleep in a cold house without food to eat because of electricity’s on and off.” Then her friend Nombulelo said “I was born with asthma and it left me when I was twelve years and now I’m thirty-two years but I prefer risking this silence killer rather than staying in the cold house”
The easy alternative is to be there for an alternative energy use during this hard times of load shedding if not so something bad is coming.
